Working with the last WWI Veteran Frank Woodruff Buckles, DeJonge and Buckles efforts led to the restoration of the DC WWI Memorial on the National Mall. The WWI Commemorative coin minted by the US Mint was also a law passed from their efforts. The law to create a National WWI Memorial was also a result of their efforts.
All laws were co opted at the end and all efforts to honor 4,734,991 veterans with a memorial on the National Mall were extinguished.
DeJonge can speak about:
-The life of the last WWI Veteran Frank Buckles
-The process of passing a law through grassroots efforts.
-The damages of forgetting a World War.
-The process of creating a film and photograph documentary.
-Struggling with depression and leading a national campaign followed by millions of people globally.
